Kedington School and the Environment
Kedington School has a very lively interest in the environment and is working towards becoming an Eco-School in 2009. We have been involved in a large gardening project since June 2007 and take seriously our responsibility for helping the environment.
All the children take part in growing vegetables which are used in the school canteen or sold; collecting leaves and fruit waste for the compost heap; planting flowers and trees to make the school look nice; and creating a wildlife area to encourage birds, hedgehogs, bugs etc to visit (or stay!).
Our Eco Council members monitor the use of electricity and water used in the school, check that the recycling bins are used correctly and collect mobile phones for
recycling.
Kedington School and Ecole St Exupéry
In October 2007 Kedington School and Ecole St Exupéry joined together in a partnership with the common theme of ‘The Environment’.
When a class from St Exupéry visited Kedington in the Summer our activities included visiting Cambridge Botanical Gardens, and doing some garden clearing and weeding at Kedington School.
The project for this year is to design a garden for each other’s school.
The Site for the Garden at Kedington School
The site is at the front of the school between the Ketton Early Birds Playgroup building and the school kitchen and inside of the wooden fence (where the children are standing).
